How do you become friends with your lover?

I have been with this guy for 1 year. We have helped each other through some tought times and one thing lead to another. He fell in love with me earily in the relationship but I held back as I did not want to get into another relationship this soon. We are living together and I am finding it hard to see him as a bf and lover. He is older than me and I really cant see me settleing down with him. He is so caring and does anything and everything for me. I love him too but... I am not in love with him. Please help.
