How to throw a barbeque party for a 17 year old?

My oldest daughter just graduated and is turning 17 on Saturday. We want to throw her a cookout party, but I have no clue what to serve, how to set it up, what events to have. What types of things do teens like to do? We don't have a pool, but we do have a nice size back yard and garage. Sad thing is, we would like to have a DJ for her, but don't think the HOA is going to like the noise.
