My sugar glider's tail is scabbed?

I was looking at my Glider's tail today and I realized that maybe an area of about 1/2 an inch was scabbed. Whenever I touched it or tried to get a better look then she would jerk and pull her tail away from me. What could be the cause of this scabbing? Should I worry about it?
