What video format can be loaded onto my 60gig iPod video?

I tried using the mpg/mpeg that I would normally play in WMP, but that wouldnt work. Then I downloaded quicktime files and it wouldnt play either. At first it was telling me that my iPod doesnt play videos, but it says it's suppose to.
